Contractor marketing that brings the calls.

Nobody hires a contractor from a phone screen. They pick three and walk the house.

A builder gets chosen after three walkthroughs and a week of checking. We build the profile, the project pages and the proof that hold up while a homeowner compares you.

What is different here

Contractor is not like the others.

Contractor is the widest word in the trade and the weakest search term you own. Somebody typing it might want an addition, a bathroom, or a door rehung. The homeowner who has decided types the project instead: basement finishing, garage conversion, whole house remodel.

Then the searching stops and the checking starts. A homeowner lines up three bids and walks the house with each builder. In the days after, they look up your license, read the newest reviews, hunt for photos of a job like theirs, and ask the neighborhood group if anybody has heard of you.

The people you are up against are not all builders. A design firm with a marketing budget publishes something every month, a lead seller ranks above you both and sells the same homeowner around, and an unlicensed guy with a truck bids under everybody.

What we would work on first.

The order matters as much as the list. These five are ranked by what moves a contractor business fastest, not by what is easiest to sell.

Your profile, off the general pile

General Contractor is where every remodeler, deck builder and handyman in town parks, so the category tells Google almost nothing. Pick the narrower one that matches the work you want, then name real projects in the services list. An afternoon of work, and the fastest lever here.

A page for the project, not for contracting

One page per kind of job, titled the way a homeowner says it out loud. Additions. Basements. Garage conversions. A single services page that says we do it all gets scrolled past, because it never answers the thing they came to ask.

Say what you will not take on

Nobody expects this one. Ranking for contractor brings the punch list calls, the fence, the door that sticks. Put the work you take and the work you hand off in writing. Fewer calls come in, and more of them are worth the drive.

The review you ask for at the walkthrough

A builder finishes few jobs a year, so each review counts for more and a quiet stretch shows. Ask at the final walkthrough, while the client is standing in the finished room, not weeks later when the last invoice is the only thing between you.

Links from the people you already work with

An architect, a cabinet supplier, the lumberyard, the subs on every job, the local builders association. A contractor is the only trade with that many local businesses able to vouch for the work. Slow to build and very hard for a rival to copy.

Links

General contracting is a trade we have worked in, so the pages get built around the projects worth signing and not the punch list calls that eat a Saturday. That is the difference between a phone that rings and a phone that rings right.

The cost of waiting · 03 things

What another quarter costs you.

None of this is urgent in the way a broken van is urgent, which is exactly why it slides. Here is what slides with it.

/ 01The spring work gets signed without youProjects that break ground in spring get decided in the slow months, while a homeowner sits indoors comparing builders. Miss that stretch and the season is spoken for before the weather turns.
/ 02A quarter of finished work goes unwrittenEvery job you hand over is proof you could have used. Left on a phone it does nothing, and in a year the client has moved on and the photos are gone.
/ 03The phone keeps ringing wrongAnother quarter of the same listing brings the same mix of small jobs and price shoppers, while the addition down the road goes to the builder who turned up in the search.
Questions we get asked

Before you book the call.

We do a bit of everything. Do we have to pick a lane?

Not in the truck. On the profile and the pages, yes. Google matches a search to something specific, and a site that only says contractor is chasing the vaguest search there is. Name the work you want most, and take whatever else walks in.

Is it worth chasing contractor near me?

It is the biggest search in your trade and the messiest. Rank for it, but do not build the plan on it. The homeowner who types the project name has worked out what they want and is far closer to signing.

Most of our work is commercial. Does that change anything?

It does. Commercial jobs come through architects, bid boards and repeat clients, and the map pack barely touches them. If you do both, this is for the residential half, and we would say so rather than sell around it.

How long before this turns into a signed job?

The profile can move inside a few weeks. The rest is the trade's own delay: somebody who finds you this month might sign once the money is sorted and the drawings are done. Judge it over quarters.

We are booked out. Why start now?

The work you put in now lands after the backlog, which is when you want the phone busy. It is also the only time you can be choosy, and a builder picking from a full list takes better jobs.
